Biography

Having served the last two summers (’21, ’22) in LSM’s Fellow Program (voice, organ), Ezechiel Daos returns to LSM 2023 as Associate Cantor. Being immersed in a variety of traditions, both musically and liturgically, Ezechiel understands and embraces diverse communities of worship. He believes that seeking and living out a lively faith which is intentional, especially through music, is indispensable to a worship community.

As a multi-disciplined performer and pedagogue, he is interested in the intersection of faith and music. This is one of the reasons that Ezechiel has come to appreciate and live out the three pillars of LSM in his daily life: music, community, and faith. These three pillars are necessary for the individual and, therefore, for the community.

Currently a graduate student at the University of North Texas, Ezechiel is pursuing a master’s degree in organ performance. He is studying organ with Dr. Jesse Eschbach and harpsichord with Dr. Brad Bennight. At North Texas, Ezechiel is involved with the UNT A Cappella Choir, the premier ensemble of the UNT choral program, and Vox Aquilae, an ensemble of 18-24 singers that specializes in music from the 16th through 18th centuries in collaboration with the UNT Baroque Orchestra.

In May 2022 Ezechiel received bachelors degrees in music education and vocal performance from Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri, here he studied voice with Dr. Susan Quigley- Duggan, organ with Jonie Loehnig, and piano with Dr. Melissa Simons.

Ezechiel currently serves as organist at First Presbyterian Church in Denton, Texas. When he’s not in a practice room, he enjoys taking walks, baking (especially challah), going on road trips, and checking out bookstores.
