Biography

Nathan Baker-Trinity (LSM '92-'95) is pastor of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rush City, Minnesota and looks forward to returning to LSM after serving as chaplain in 2021 and 2022. He first attended LSM as a fifteen-year-old at the urging of his middle school band director. An ordained ELCA pastor since 2006, Nathan has served congregations in Minnesota and Pennsylvania.

Nathan has made several musical, devotional and preaching contributions to the larger church. As a musician, he was a member of the Music Team for Worship Jubilee 2007 which helped introduce Evangelical Lutheran Worship, and more recently has sung with the Schola at the Institute of Liturgical Studies at Valparaiso University.  As a writer, he has contributed to Sundays and Seasons: Preaching and Christ in Our Home.

Nathan is both a trombonist and tenor, and credits his years at Lutheran Summer Music and Valparaiso University (Bachelor of Music, '00) in guiding him to pursue pastoral ministry. He looks forward to giving back to this remarkable music and faith formation program that has given so much to him.

Nathan and his wife, Jennifer (organ, voice), live in Shoreview, Minnesota with their three musical children, Thomas (17, trumpet, organ, voice), Luke (15, violin, voice) and Miriam (13, piano, voice).
